HTC U11 made official with SD835 and Edge Sense

HTC U11 is the latest flagship device launched by HTC and is the successor to last year’s HTC 10. The device is also the latest addition to new U series of smartphones from HTC after the U Ultra and U Play.

The device has a curved body with 3D glass both on the back and front making it beautiful and vivid with colors. The phone features a 5.5″ QHD Super LCD 5 screen with Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. Under the hood, it is powered by latest Snapdragon 835 processor clocked up to 2.4 GHz. Memory wise, it has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2 TB. Some of the international markets will even see a 6 GB/128 GB configuration. HTC U11 has a 3,000 mAh battery and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. The device runs on Android 7.1 with HTC Sense UI and comes bundled with the Google Assistant and also Amazon Alexa in some of the regions. It is also IP67 certified which means it can withstand dust and can be immersed in water for up to 30 minutes or up to 1m.

HTC U11 features a 12MP UltraPixel 3 sensor with 1.4-micron pixel size and f/1.7 aperture. We also get optical image stabilization, a dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. Slow motion videos can be captured in 1080p at 120fps. It should be noted that the company also confirmed that HTC U11 camera has achieved an incredible DxOMark 90 score, making it the highest rated smartphone ever in DxOMark history, surpassing Google Pixel as well. On the front, there is a 16MP camera that can record 1080p Full HD video and has a Selfie Panorama mode. Connectivity wise, the phone has USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and NFC but no 3.5mm audio jack.

 

HTC has introduced a new feature called the Edge Sense which allows the device users to squeeze the sides of HTC U11 to perform any specific action. You can configure it to access a wide range of functions and applications. One squeeze can open Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. And with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa just a squeeze away, you get two powerful voice assistants ready at your command! The users can even take a photo or video with just one squeeze on the phone’s frame.

On the Audio side, HTC U11 features 4 microphones that work together to record audio from all directions and with Acoustic Focus, you can zoom in on the video to target your subject and amplify their specific sounds. The phone also has a Hi-Fi BoomSound speaker at the top and bottom with 100% more loudness and 150% improvement in Dynamic Range Audio. HTC has bundled the phone with its USonic earphones with active noise cancellation feature to stay focused on your music, videos or games.

Just like in the HTC U Ultra, you will find Sense Companion app in HTC U11 which is an AI companion that will get to know you and your daily patterns over time in order to offer you more convenience with each and every day.

HTC U11 will be available in Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, Ice White, and Solar Red starting this month and is priced at €749/£649.

An unlocked version in Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, and Amazing Silver will be available for presale beginning today via HTC itself and Amazon in the USA with launch date June 9 and priced at $649.
