Realme 2 launched with a Notch and bigger battery

Realme, the brand that got separated as an independent entity from Oppo has launched it’s latest device – Realme 2. The phone follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Realme 1 and promises to be an exciting budget phone.

Realme 2 body

The device comes with a 6.2 inch HD display and a notch making it the first device under INR 10,000 to have it. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset which is a downgrade from the Realme 1. Storage wise, the device comes with a 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB configuration. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Oppo’s Color OS 5.1 skin. The company has this time decided to go with a finger print sensor along with the Face Unlock feature for Realme 2.

The phone has a dual 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP f/2.4 camera on the back to aid portrait modes like all the other phones now a days while on the front it has 8MP f/2.2 selfie camera that is also used for Face Unlock. The camera also supports AI beauty mode and AR stickers.

Realme 2 Camera

With 12 layers of nanoscale composite material, the back side of Realme 2 features a diamond glossy finish, radiating reflections of light and color from 15 tangent planes. Realme 2 boasts a 4,230mAh battery which is a 24% increase over the one in the previous device. Combined with AI Power Manager, Realme claims up to 44 hours of call time, 18 hours of music playback and up to 10 hours of gaming.

The phone will be available in a shimmering diamond pattern finish in either Red, Blue or Black and the price starts at INR 8,990 (€110) for the 3GB/32GB variant and INR 10,990 (€130) for the 4GB/64GB variant. The first sale will be held on September 12 while the Diamond Blue will be sold starting early October.
