Nokia, the once King of all smartphones and undisputed fan favorite is back as an Android powered smartphone – the Nokia 6. HMD Global, the Finnish company that will be manufacturing all Nokia phones sent out an official press release giving the details of Nokia 6.
The device features a 5.5 inch FHD 2.5D display protected by Gorilla Glass and is powered by the Snapdragon 430 containing an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 505 GPU. There is 4GB of RAM for multi-tasking and 64GB of internal storage, a 16MP phase detection auto focus rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Both the cameras feature f/2.0 aperture lenses and an exclusive camera UI with automatic scene detection which supposedly makes it easy to take great pictures. The phone comes with a 3,000 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 which is four times faster than conventional charging. Nokia 6 has dual amplifiers to deliver a 6dB louder sound than a regular amp, giving higher voice, deeper bass and unmatched clarity along with Dolby Atmos to give a rich audio experience. Nokia 6 will be running on the latest Android Nougat version and from the below video it appears to be using Nokia’s own UI skin as well.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global said: “We have set ourselves a mission to deliver the best possible smartphone experience, with a beautiful premium design touch, to everyone, at every price point. By building on true Nokia phone hallmarks of leading design and materials, an obsessive focus on the latest technology and solving real-life issues, we believe we have a unique proposition for consumers. The Nokia 6 marks the first step on our journey, with more to come in 2017.”
The device will be launched in China as a JD.com exclusive early this year because of the large number of smartphone users and priced at around $245. Even though Nokia 6 looks to be a mid-range device, there is no doubt it will receive a huge response from the consumers and we hope this is just the beginning of a series of well built quality smartphones carrying the legendary Nokia branding.
