After numerous leaks and rumors, Meizu has finally unveiled the latest flagship device – Meizu 17 and 17 Pro. The devices offer everything you can expect from a flagship device in 2020 and are very similar to each other except in some of the features like camera setup, wireless charging, and faster RAM.
Meizu 17 and 17 Pro come with a 6.67 inches Super AMOLED displays with 90Hz refresh rate and punch-hole selfie camera. The panel has an in-built fingerprint scanner, is HDR 10+ compliant, and also features dual speaker setup and Meizu’s new mEngine 3.0 haptic engine.
Under the hood, both phones are powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset with up to 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM on the Pro and 8GB of the LPDDR4X RAM on the vanilla 17. On the storage front, both phones provide the option of either 128GB or 256GB.
Both the devices feature 64MP Sony IMX686 as their primary shooter which is found on some of the other flagship devices as well. On the Meizu 17 Pro, there is an 8MP telephoto sensor that promises up to 8x lossless zoom and a 32MP ultra-wide shooter capable of capturing 129-degree pictures. There is also Samsung’s new S5K3 3D TOF camera which will be used to capture depth data and AR content. However, the Vanilla 17 features a 12MP wide shooter alongside an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro sensor
Both phones have batteries rated at 4,500 mAh supporting 30W fast wired charging while the 17 Pro can do 27W wireless charging as well.
Meizu 17 comes in green, gray, and white colors priced at CNY 3,699 ($525) for the 8/128GB and CNY 3,999 ($565) for the 8/256GB variants. The 17 Pro is available in mint green, black, and white colors with a starting price of CNY 4,299 ($605) for the 8/128GB model while the 12/256GB one will go for CNY 4,299 ($665). Official sales in China start on May 11.
