Samsung has launched the cheapest 5g smartphone – Galaxy A22 5G which will be available from July starting at a price of €230. The company also announced a 4G model of the A22 that differs in many ways than just the connectivity option.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G
Galaxy A22 5G features a 6.6” LCD with 1080p+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Samsung does not specify which chipset is being used but it appears to be the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset with an Octa-core processor. The base model has 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage and a 128GB storage option that can be paired with 4GB, 6GB or even 8GB of RAM. There is triple camera setup at the back – a 48MP main module (no OIS) and a 5MP ultra wide-angle module and a depth sensor. On the front there is a V-shaped notch housing an 8MP selfie camera.
Samsung Galaxy A22 LTE
The LTE model is actually different from the 5G model in many ways. It has a 6.4” Super AMOLED panel with 720p+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. This one is powered by the older Helio G80 chipset and paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. For the internal storage, you get options of 64GB and 128GB but there is no storage slot available for expansion.
Galaxy A22 LTE features a quad camera setup at the back – a 48MP sensor with OIS, an ultra wide-angle camera with 8MP sensor, a 2MP macro cam and a depth sensor.
Both the devices have 5,000mAh batteries and support 15W fast charging. They also have side mounted fingerprint scanners.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G will be available in select regions starting in July at €230 in four colors – Gray, White, Mint, and Violet. There is no pricing or availability info for the LTE model but it will be available in Black, White, Mint and Violet colors.
