Asus Zenfone 6 has been unveiled as the company’s flagship device with some exciting features to distinguish from the other phones launched by competitors. For starters, the company has decided to go with the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset just like other flagships and an almost bezel-less screen with no notch or camera on the front and still managed to keep the price tag same as it’s predecessor.
On the front, there is a 6.4 inch IPS LCD screen covering 92% of the area with no notch and has a peak brightness of 600 nits and supports DCI-P3. Under the hood, there Qualcomm’s latest offering, the Snapdragon 855 chipset which is paired up to 8GB of RAM. It has a 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage which can be further expanded using a microSD card. Zenfone 6 features a 5000mAh battery which is quite unusual for a flagship but a much-needed one for the users. The Zen UI has been completely revamped and now looks like a stock android but with few features from Asus as well.
Zenfone 6 does not sport a selfie camera but instead has the 48MP Sony IMX586 camera on the rear along with a 13MP ultra-wide secondary camera. The entire camera unit is set up in such a way that it can flip to the top and act as a selfie camera as well. This is very similar to the rotating camera that was seen previously in a few devices but only this time it is a flip.
The implementation is actually good since you can now record your vlogs in 4K at 60fps and also with EIS. It will also be beneficial for the selfie lovers using the ultra-wide camera for pictures. The rotation mechanism can be used to shoot panoramas automatically or use motion tracking to keep your subject in the frame. The flip-up camera is made of Liquid Metal – lighter than stainless steel but 4x stronger – and it will close automatically if you drop the phone.
Asus Zenfone 6 will be first available in the EU priced at 500 Euros and in India, it will be available at a later point on Flipkart.
