Vivo V5 was being teased for quite some days on the social media and today it has been unveiled at a launch event in India. The phone is a selfie oriented device rocking a 20MP Sony camera on the front to capture great pictures.
Specs wise, Vivo V5 features a 5.5″ 720p screen covered by 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass for protection. The device is powered by a Octa-core MediaTek processor paired with 4GB RAM and an internal storage of 32GB expandable via microSD card slot. Below the screen is a fast fingerprint scanner which Vivo claims to unlock devices in just 0.2 seconds. Vivo V5 runs the Funtouch OS 2.6 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is backed up by a 3,000mAh battery. We also get the Smart Split 2.0 – split-screen multitasking feature and AK4346 Hi-Fi audio chip found in other high-end Vivo mobiles.
Lets take a look at the main feature of this device – the 20MP selfie camera. The company has used Sony IMX376 sensor of size 1/2.78” – with a bright f/2.0 aperture and 5p lens assembly. We also have a flash on the front to enhance the selfies during night time or low light conditions. There are beauty modes and other filters to produce vibrant looking pictures compared to a regular selfie. On the back, we have a 13MP camera with PDAF probably capable of 1080p video recording.
Vivo V5 is priced at INR 17,980 and will be available starting November 26 in retail stores across the country but is to be seen if people will go for a selfie phone at a price for which brands like LeEco and Lenovo offer their flagship devices.
