Vivo V9 launched in India with a notch

Vivo has launched a new flagship device – V9, a new addition to the selfie lineup from the Chinese company. The device features a 24MP selfie camera but the actual selling point will be the new bezel-less screen with a small notch similar to the iPhone X.

Vivo V9

Vivo V9 packs a 6.3 inches FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 90% with a narrow chin bezel. The device weighs just around 150g, thanks to the plastic body making it a light one. Powering the device is an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Chipset and 4GB RAM. The internal memory is 64GB but can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. V9 runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 which is based on Android 8 Oreo and features a lot of customizations including Face Unlock and smart volume reduction. The battery is of 3260mAh capacity but there is no mention of fast charging support which would be a let down at this price point.

The phone features a dual camera setup on the back, the placement of which reminds us of iPhone X. There is a 16MP main camera that captures the actual image and a 5MP camera which captures depth details to create the bokeh effect and even allows the user to refocus a picture after shooting. Vivo claims to use a self-learning algorithm which analyzes the subject in the picture and produces high-quality images. On the front, there is a 24MP camera for selfie lovers with f2.0 and moonlight screen flash for brighter selfies. The camera also supports portrait mode and beauty modes like many other smartphones in the market.

Vivo V9 will be available in three colors – Pearl Black, Champagne Gold, and Blue (to be launched in May). Priced at INR ₹22,990, the device will be available across India at both online and offline stores from April 2.
