ZTE has announced the latest flagship device under it’s Nubia brand – the Z17 which will be the second Chinese handset powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The device will be available in three variants, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage costing CNY2,799 ($411), 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costing CNY3,399 ($499) and the top-end 8 GB RAM version priced at CNY3,999 or $583.
Z17 has a metal body and 5.5 inch FHD LCD display that is almost bezel-less and protected by Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, we have a 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz along with a massive 6GB/8GB RAM. The internal storage is 64GB or 128GB depending on the variants and both are of super fast UFS 2.1 standard. The device misses out on the 3.5mm audio jack and the storage expansion. Like many flagship devices launched this year, Z17 also comes with a dual camera setup at the back – 23MP + 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 1.4um large pixel. This camera setup enables 2x optical zoom and 10x dynamic zoom on the Z17 along with great low light pictures given the large pixel. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide angle lens.
The phone comes with Android 7.1 with Nubia UI 5.0 on top, has a3200mAh battery inside which charges up to 50% in 25 minutes. The other features include Dolby Atmos, Hi-Fi+, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and dual-band Wi-Fi. The registrations are already open for the first sale that will happen June 6th on Nubia’s official store as well as JD.com.
