Huawei to update 100 Android devices with HarmonyOS

Huawei has announced the second major version update for HarmonyOS at an event with several new devices running on it. These include the new Huawei watches and the MatePad tablets.

Not just the newly launched devices, Huawei also confirmed that around 100 Android devices will be migrated to the new HarmonyOS 2.0 by this year. The roll out will be only for the China region initially as the company did not specify a timeline for the global market.

The owners of the flagship devices can sign up My Huawei and Huawei Club apps to receive the HarmonyOS 2.0 update. Even the devices that were launched in 2019 like the Mate 30 can receive the update as of today. Below is the complete rollout schedule for the HarmonyOS 2.0.

As you can see from the schedule, Huawei is planning to update older models from the Mate, Nova, P, V and S series as well. The users who are not confident on updating the device on their own, can visit any of the Huawei stores in China and get it updated.

Although China is getting the update first, it will be interesting to see how Google services are handled in the global market, since China version of devices never had Google services running on them.
