We have been hearing rumors about Xiaomi’s Mi 5 launch date but today Hugo Barra, the VP of Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date as 24th Feb. This was confirmed on Twitter by Hugo and later on Miui forum too.
Details of the smartphone were not revealed by these posts even though rumors suggest Mi 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 820. But one particular post on the Miui forum confirmed the processor as Snapdragon 820 and that the launch event will be happening on 24th Feb in Beijing, China. This post has also invited the Mi fans to apply for a chance to be selected for the grand launch event in Beijing. The users have to apply by filling a form and answering couple of questions in the post and once selected, 10 lucky fans from around the world will be flown out to the launch event with all expenses paid by Xiaomi.
