OnePlus 8 Pro color filter to be disabled

OnePlus 8 Pro was launched with a 5MP color filter camera which was supposed to be used for taking pictures from a different perspective. But, as per recent reports, the camera is able to see through some of the plastic objects and even clothes which has stirred up quite a controversy.

The color filter is apparently using an IR camera and was promoted as a different type of sensor to take unique texture photography for the enthusiasts. The company released a statement last week that it will be disabling the color filter in China due to privacy concerns. Now the company has decided to disable the camera worldwide with an OTA update.

The Oxygen OS 10.5.9.IN11AA update is currently rolling out to disable the feature on OnePlus 8 Pro and probably will be reaching India and other parts of Europe where the device is selling. The company also has promised that it will be re-enabling the sensor in the future with some adjustments.
